The Perfect Mother's Day Camping Weekend - Blog

Mother's Day is fast approaching. Did you remember your card, flowers, or a gift? Not to worry. One way to show your appreciation is to spoil her silly for an entire weekend. Your mission is to pack up that camper and head out to the Covered Wagon RV Park in Magrath, Alberta, and treat her to a relaxing mini-vacation. Don’t forget the barbecue supplies because you and the kids, if you’ve been so blessed, will be doing most if not all of the cooking.

The campsites at Covered Wagon RV Park, only about 40 kilometres south of Lethbridge, are nestled between shade trees, and most have full hook-ups. Both 30 and 50 amp electrical service is available. Once your camp is set up it’s time to explore the grounds, filled with vintage farming equipment displays, trees and lots of open green space. A playground and some horseshoe pits are onsite. Free wagon rides are available for the kids, another thing to keep them entertained. If mom’s into fishing, bring some poles and try your luck at Pothole Creek. This is her time to relax in the sun, so let mom take the lead in planning.

Perhaps a trip into the town of Magrath would be just the ticket. Visit the local museum or play a round of golf at the Magrath Golf Course. Take a day trip to Waterton Lakes National Park, tucked away in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and less than two hours away on some of the most scenic roads in Alberta. Woolford Provincial Park is only half the distance and offers fishing, kayaking and hiking opportunities. Ok, that may not be relaxing but some moms like to get out into the great outdoors in a big way.

At night, mom can just cozy up to a roaring fire while you do the cooking and the clean up, right? Steaks are easy, so are hamburgers and hotdogs. Make a veggie or fruit salad, open a bag of crispy chips and you have a meal. Yes, using paper plates and plastic cutlery is allowed, as long as mom doesn’t have to pick them up. She shouldn’t have anything more taxing to do than toasting that marshmallow, putting it and a hunk of chocolate between some graham crackers and biting into a nice gooey s’more. Did I mention, don't forget the napkins?

You don’t have an RV to take mom on her special trip? That's not a problem. One trip to your Lethbridge RV dealer will have you camping in style. Take mom along and let her help pick the unit out. You’ll be on her A-list, and with moms, that’s a very good place to be.
